"How do I work? I grope."
Einstein's answer to a
reporter asking his secret
for creating so many
innovative ideas.
Are you looking for an
innovative brand that gets
your business noticed?
Describe your company. What
do you offer? Write down key
words you use frequently
when explaining what you and
your organization do.
Those are your Core
Words. They are what you
"play with" to create a
one-of-a-kind brand that
helps you POP! out of your
pack. Just as a jazz pianist
"riffs" off standard chords
to make new music, you
"riff" off your Core Words
to make a brand new name.
Want to know how to create a
"Half and Half" word that
combines two aspects of your
business to create an
innovative brand that
belongs to you and you
alone?
The Washington Post
runs an annual contest that
showcases the hilarious and
high-potential results of
doing just this. Its popular
The Style Invitational
column invites readers to
“breed” two names of the 100
horses eligible in the
Kentucky Derby and "name"
the resulting foal. Here are
a few of this year’s winning
entries.
Arizona + In Orbit = AZ The
World Turns (Joe and Amy
Neff)
Pyro + Mapmaker = Your
Heatin' Chart (Cy Gardner)
Casual Conquest + Total Bull
= I'll Call You (Russel
Beland)
Clemens + Attempted Humor =
Mock Twain (Mark Eckenwiler)
Fierce Wind + Big Brown =
Hits the Fan (Carol Ostrow)
Revenge is Sweet + In Orbit
= What Goes Around (Lori D.
Price)
Signature Move + Total Bull
= John Hancrock (Stephen
Gilberg)
Sea of Pleasure + I've Heard
It All = Yachta, Yachta,
Yachta (Chris Doyle)
U.S. Treasury + Visionary =
I See Debt, People (Chris
Doyle)
And my personal favorite?
Mapmaker + Behind at the Bar
= Atlas Chugged (Cy Gardner)
Are you thinking, "How would
this help me come up with an
attention-getting brand for
my business?"
I think "Atlas Chugged"
(playing off Ayn Rand's
Atlas Shrugged) is a
PERFECT name for a
college-town bar.
"I See Debt, People"
(playing off the memorable
phrase from the movie
Sixth Sense) is an
amusing title for an article
on how to get out of credit
card debt.
"Yachta, Yachta, Yachta" is
a smile-inducing slogan for
a marine services store or
boat Realtor.
(Of course, give credit
where credit is due - to the
originators of those phrases
in the Post.)
Want a couple more examples
showing how this works?
Perhaps you've seen the
restaurant chain that blends
Italian and Chinese food?
Ciao Mein?
A participant in my POP!
Certification program last
weekend told me about his
favorite restaurant in San
Antonio - a fusion
restaurant combining Chinese
and Mexican food. The name?
Wokamole. Dan said
the name on the restaurant
window made him laugh out
loud, pull over, find a
parking place, and go in to
order a meal. That's
the power of an
attention-grabbing name that
stops people in their tracks
and motivates them to check
you out.
See how this works? Want to
be talked through this
process so you can produce
attention-getting brands and
"Half and Half" names for
your company?
Buy my 3 hour CD series
"Create Purposeful,
Original, Pithy Names,
Brands and Slogans that Help
Your Business, Product or
Services POP!" Listen to
these CD's while commuting
or working out to kick-start
your creativity and
word-play your way to an
attention-getting brand.
In fact, order the 3 CD
series by May 15, and we’ll
throw in a $23 POP!
book (which best-selling
author Jeffrey Gitomer says
is a “new way, your best way
to build buzz”) for free.
As Shari Peace, President of
Peace Talks says, "I've been
working on niching my
business and word-smithing
my topics. Sam's POP!
techniques are by far the
best resource I've
discovered. Her concepts are
creative, concrete and
practical. I know everyone
tells her this, but her
ideas really are worth a
fortune."

“I think I’m the best,
but you’re not going to get
me to say that.” - Football
player Jerry Rice’s answer
to reporters pressing him as
to whether he was the #1
receiver in the game.
Our guest expert for our May
Sam’s Salon webinar IS the
best in his game, and that’s
not just my opinion.
At the recent Underground
Workshop in Los Angeles, CA,
more than 300 top internet
marketers gathered from
around the world to swap
best practice tips. At the
end of this intensive three
day event, who did they
select as the best in their
biz?
None other than John
Carter, shown on the
right with his team of Rosa,
Priyanka and Hubert, signing
over their $10,000 prize
check to
www.DreamsforKids.org,
an organization you’ve read
about in these pages.
So, what’s this got to do
with you?
What would you pay to learn
from the BEST
internet marketer in the
country? What would you
pay to hear how he turned a
single book into a
subscription membership site
and a
multi-million-dollar-a-year
business? What would you pay
to learn how to monetize
your ideas through a variety
of e-commerce activities
including webinars, podcasts
and information products?
What would you pay? Well,
how about “three for free?”
That’s right, I’m so excited
about sharing John’s wisdom
with my clients and
colleagues that I’m making
this month’s Sam Salon free,
as long as you refer two
people who would like to
learn from him as well.
Simply email us at
info@SamHorn.com
with the email addresses of
your two colleagues that you
think would be interested in
participating, and we’ll
send all three of you
instructions on how to join
our May 27th program.
This is no ordinary tele-conference.
This is an interactive
webinar in which you
watch John demonstrate his
techniques as he tells you
how to create a profitable
e-commerce empire. See for
yourself how easy it is to
make a mint from your mind
by sharing your ideas
online.
Can’t make our May 27th
webinar or just want to sign
yourself up? No worries.
Order the webinar for $29
and study it again and again
at your leisure as John
answers the questions
everyone wants to know:
• Do I have to be a techie
or geek to figure this out?
• How much does it cost to
set up a membership site?
• Can I do this part time at
home while I’m working
another full-time job? (YES
– that’s exactly what John
did.)
• What’s this I hear about a
subscription newsletter? How
does that work?
• Can you tell me how to
turn a chapter into a
downloadable PDF and sell it
as a special report?
• I know it’s important to
Search-Engine-Optimize my
site – I just don’t know how
to do it. Can you help with
that?
• What are the best, least
expensive resources for
recording DVD’s and CD’s?
I’ve been in the IDEApreneur
business for more than
twenty years, and I’ve kept
my antennae up for someone I
trust who knows what he’s
doing when it comes to
marketing with integrity.
John Carter is the real
deal. I’m looking forward to
interviewing him about his
“you-can-do-this-too”
insights, and hope you can
join us on May 27th at 8 pm
East coast time, 5 pm West
Coast time. |

An Oscar-winning actor
received the Benjamin
Franklin Creativity Award
from the Smithsonian
Institute recently. When
asked how she felt about
donning white spandex for a
blockbuster movie coming out
this summer, she said,
“My children are going to
expatriate when that movie
comes out.”
After a dramatic pause, she
added with a twinkle in her
eye, “And that is why I did
it.”
Be the first to guess who
said that and receive your
